Parent Resources

If you are the parent of a struggling reader, then your first priority is to get your child connected to a qualified reading remediation teacher who teaches using an effective reading remediation program. Parents also need to be advocates for their children both in IEP meetings and in a larger sense so the we can urge the government to take a more active role in improving school-wide reading systems. The resources on this page are aimed at helping parents in all of these areas.

Free Reading Remediation

If you are the parent of a struggling reader, then your first priority is to get your child connected to a qualified reading remediation teacher who teaches using an effective reading remediation program. If you have trouble finding a qualified tutor or the cost is just too great, you can hire a regular teacher and have them teach using my free guided video lessons.

Financial Aid

If you are from British Columbia, Canada, then you can apply for a Variety BC grant, to cover the cost of private reading remediation lessons.

In Canada, parents of children who have learning disabilities can also get a tax credit. Here is a link so that you can learn more about it.

Parent Advocacy

Since the Accessible BC Act was passed, every school district in British Columbia is required to have a feedback form so that parents can report when a child is being denied access to their education. Use this form to report if you child is being denied effective reading remediation at school. Let's raise our voices so that we can change the system.
