At the Pacific Northwest Regional Science fair the prizes are divided into three categories:

3. Special Awards: All of these awards are provincial awards

Judges Awards
Every student will get an award for having their project judged. There are four different levels of awards in this category:
Gold - ribbon and $40
Silver - ribbon and $30
Bronze - ribbon and $20
Participant - ribbon

Local Awards
Skeena Gold Environmental Innovation & Impact Award - $75.00
One project from grades 7-8 and one project from grades 9-10 will be selected for this award.
A project that demonstrates advanced scientific inquiry into environmental systems or challenges. This award recognizes critical thinking, evidence-based analysis, and innovative approaches that contribute to environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability.

BC Institute of Agrologists $100.00 + trophy
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
A project this is concerned with agrology. Agrology is a broad term for environmental protection, horticulture, aquaculture, viticulture, rangelands, silviculture, agri-tech, and natural resources management, and other related areas.

Smithers Exploration Group Earth Science Award - $50.00 plus mineral set, gold pan, etc.
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
Project selected that relates to mining, exploration, alternate energy production, rocks, minerals or geological processes

Pacific Northwest Regional Science Fair – Innovation Council Award - trophy but no cash prize
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
Project that shows innovation

Bulkley Valley Research Centre Special Effort awards $30
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
Special effort awards are awarded to the student in each school who put the most interest and energy into their project, regardless of whether the project received other awards. In science, it's important to know that experiments don't always work out--and that's ok! These folks demonstrated the passion needed to go on to to do whatever they'd like to do.

Special Provincial Awards
​BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation Award - $65.00 + trophy
Grades 5 to 12 are eligible for the award.
An outstanding project that shows the practical application of scientific principles to agriculture.
BC Game Developers Innovation Award - $50, $100, $150
Grade 7-8 $50.00
Grade 9-10 $100
Senior (Grade 11-12) $150.00
A project that demonstrates creativity and innovation in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or astronomy.
BC Hydro Power Pioneers Award $100.00
Grades 4 to 12 are eligible for the award.
A project which creatively demonstrates electrical conservation and its
environmental, social and economical impacts.
BC Nature Award (Federation of BC Naturalists) - $50.00 X 2 and $100.00 x2
Grades K-6, 7-9, and 10-12 are eligible for these awards
Best natural history project - any aspect of natural history, conservation of natural habitats, and/or natural species. An outdoor, nature monitoring or conservation project is strongly encouraged.
BC Science Teachers’ Association Award - $100.00
Grades 7 or 8 are eligible for the award.
For an experimental project in any category that has clearly presented a hypothesis and independent, controlled variables.
Engineers and Geoscientists B.C. Award - $250
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
For outstanding engineering projects. Projects eligible for this award include those in the field of chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, industrial and mechanical engineering as well as systems design. This could be given out as one award or split into multiple awards.
Genome BC Award - $100.00 X 2
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
For projects dealing with a topic of life sciences, particularly of genomic interest. Students in all grades areeligible for this award.
Julia Lane Foundation - $200
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
Student with a passion for science and community. Preference given to female candidates with projects relating to Geology or Earth and Environmental Sciences.
The Michael Crooks Physics Prize - $125.00
Grades 6 to 12 are eligible for the award.
An outstanding physics-related project.
Shad Canada Community Changemaker Prize - $750 towards SHAD2027 fees Certificate and FAQ
To be awarded to a Grade 9 or 10 student whose project demonstrates creativity, curiosity, and the potential for social impact. Up to three awards per region
SCWIST (Society for Canadian Women in Science & Technology) Award $100.00 + trophy
young women, preferably in Grades 8 to 10
Project shows the greatest curiosity, ingenuity and innovation in design. The award is intended to encourage the student’s interest in science. A student may not receive this award more than once.
Vancouver Royal Astronomical Society of BC (RASC) Martha Pearse Award - $50.00
Students in all grades are eligible for this award.
To be awarded to the best astronomy or physics project that demonstrates creativity, innovation and contributes to a greater public understanding of science.

Scholarships
Julia Lane Scholarship- $3000.00
Students in grades 11 or 12 are eligible
To be awarded to a Grade 11 or 12 student with a passion for science and community. Preference given to female candidates with projects relating to Geology or Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Genome BC Scholarship - $1000.00
Students in grades 11 or 12 are eligible
To be awarded to a Grade 11 or 12 student who has developed a science and technology project focused on areas of life sciences, including but not limited to human health, forestry, fisheries, agriculture, bioenergy, mining and the environment. The winner must pursue a science degree in British Columbia.

Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Scholarship - $1900.00
To be awarded to a Grade 11 or 12 student that shows the practical application of scientific principles to identifying and addressing transportation-related issues. This will include environmental effects of transportation projects, such as emission reduction, erosion, invasive species management, habitat destruction, etc. and their mitigation. Other transportation related issues may include, reducing wildlife/vehicle collisions, noise attenuation, managing runoff and road contaminants, road maintenance activities like de-icing, drainage management, handling contaminated soil or road construction materials, etc.

Canada-Wide Science Fair Team
Grades 8-12 are eligible for this award.
2 students will be chosen to represent the Pacific Northwest Region of BC at the Canada-Wide Science Fair. This prize includes a one week, trip to Ottawa to compete at the national level. Flight, accommodations and meals are all included.
